Authorization for the collection of personal data
We are entitled to collect, process and utilise personal information as far as necessary in order to justify, adjust or modify contractual relationships concerning the use of the portal and the services offered (inventory data), to ensure the usability of the portal and the services offered (usage data) and as far as is necessary in order to bill the services rendered to our users (billing data).
Definition of personal data
Personal data means information about personal or factual circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person. These include e.g. information such as name, address or phone number.
Use without personal data
As a matter of principle our websites are also available to all users without personal information being collected. However, you will be asked for personal information if you want to use one of our personalised services or services that are available at a charge (e.g. newsletters, orders).
Storing the log file without personal reference
Each time a user accesses a page offered on www.city-of-light.com and every time he /she retrieves a file, data about these processes are stored in a log file. However, the data collected (e.g. IP address, date, time and pages viewed) generally allow no identification of the user, that is, they are no personal data and there is no personal-reference use of the information, either. Only a statistical analysis of anonymous data is reserved.
Personal data for registration or fee-based services
As far as registration is required for certain services or for services that are subject to a fee, we collect personal data such as name, first name, address, telephone number, payment method and payment information.
This personal data is solely used to make sure that you can access information and services offered on the portal and also to enable us to provide and bill services. The data are processed and used for no other than contractual purposes only to the extent necessary for the establishment, design, change and fulfilment of contract.
We store your data on protected servers in Germany. Access is restricted to authorised persons who are responsible for the technical, commercial or editorial support of the servers. We take every precaution to ensure the safety of your personal data. Your data will be conscientiously protected against loss, destruction, falsification, manipulation and unauthorised access or unauthorised disclosure.
Cookies are files that are stored on your hard drive in order to identify recurring visitors of online offerings. So cookies make it possible that you do not need to register again each time when using personalised services.
In no case, however, will personal data be generated or passed on or cookies linked with personal data. Only the internet protocol address is stored. These cookies help the operator of www.city-of-light.com analyse how the websites are used. The contents of individual pages can thus be optimised and adapted to the needs of our users.
No permanent storage
If you do not wish to benefit from cookies you can easily disable them in your browser. In this case please note the settings of your browser.
Use of web analytics tool Piwik
Jena Business Development makes use of the software "Piwik" for the analysis of its web presence. Jena Business Development’s approach for the data-protection compliant use of Piwik is based - with a few exceptions, which are explained below – on the suggestions and recommendations of the Independent Centre for Privacy Protection Schleswig-Holstein (Unabhängiges Landeszentrum für Datenschutz Schleswig-Holstein ULD).
In order to improve its internet offers Jena Business Development uses the referrer data of visitors. The referrer data contains information about the origin of a page view (direct page view, original site, search engine, or search words). For the same purpose Jena Business Development employs tracking cookies with a lifetime of 90 days. Among other things they help recognise website visitors and provide insight on the quality of the internet services.
Right of objection
The German Telemedia Act calls for a right of objection against web analytics for website visitors. Jena Business Development does not refer to the possibility of objection (e.g. via a pop-up window) at the first call of a page.
In order to protect yourself against being monitored by the web analytics software Piwik a so-called Piwik opt-out cookie is set up in the browser currently used. It should be noted that an objection engaged in this manner may not be sufficient in any case. The deletion of all browser cookies, the usage of different internet browsers or the like may necessitate a renewal of the objection.
